Sharm el-Sheikh is an increasingly popular destination in Egypt – also known and as “Sharm” it is situated on the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula, in Janub Sina', on the coastal narrow piece between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai. It is about four hours drive away from the Suez canal region and about three hours drive to Taba.

Sharm el-Sheikh is the administrative hub of Egypt's Southern Sinai province which includes the smaller coastal towns of Dahab and Nuweiba as well as the mountainous interior, Saint Catherine's Monastery and Mount Sinai. Because many international peace conferences have been held there, Sharm el-Sheikh is also known as The City of Peace.

Sharm el-Sheikh's boasts wonderful landscapes - it has a dry and pleasant climate throughout the year and long natural sandy beaches. The sea in this area is always clear and calm and this is one of the main reasons why Sharm’s major industry is foreign and domestic tourism.  Water-sports fans can enjoy various water activities, particularly, recreational scuba diving and snorkelling.

During the night, the city dresses up with lights and live entertainment as locals display their talents, art and perform musical or theatrical shows in the streets which are filled with tourists enjoying the exciting atmosphere. The most charming element of Sharm El-Sheikh is that it combines exotic features with a genuine European touch. It has first rate accommodation and amenities.

Nama Beach is one of the most popular beaches within this area and is located just north of Sharm El Sheikh.  The hotels there feature their own private beaches where the guests can enjoy sun bathing and swimming in the crystal clear blue waters.  Also, nearby this area, you will find Shark’s Bay, which has many diving centres.

Diving is a wonderful experience in Sharm since you will find yourself, as soon as you enter the warm waters of the Red Sea, in a magnificent world of colours and shapes. The reefs of Tiran and Ras Mohammed are considered to be two of the best diving-places in the world. You can reach them by boat from Sharm in two hours. Ras Mohammed is the name of the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula. There the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Gulf of Suez. There is a lot of plankton in the water there and so the amount of fish is unbelievable. Huge schools of Barracudas, Sharks and Murrays can be seen there every day. The weak point of its popularity is that you may find up to 20 boats at the same reef. If you take a daily-boat you may enjoy your dive in the company of fifty other divers.

Experienced divers usually book a diving safari. This way you can avoid the crowd at the popular spots and you have the chance to dive in more beautiful and interesting reefs than you would do on a normal daytrip. Things to do in Sharm el Sheikh

Blue Lagoon
Here you can find an experienced instructor that will help you out and give you many diving tips. You can choose between many diving packages offering night dives as well, overnight trips, as well as snorkelling lessons.
